The Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Company was established in 1968, in order to ensure the regular supply of fuel to the State of Israel. Due to Israel’s unique geographical location in the region and it being a narrow land bridge between the Red Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, it was decided in the middle of the last century to lay a pipeline through the southern part of the country, with the construction of storage terminals at its ends.

The goal of the line was to transport crude oil from production sources in the Arab Gulf to customers in Europe. In 2019, the European Asia Pipeline Company was founded after the concession deed given to its predecessor, the Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline Company, expired and today it serves as one of the national infrastructure companies, which is wholly owned by the State of Israel.
