Board Meeting in Copenhagen

The EAPC Board has met in Copenhagen to prepare the next conference in May and to plan the work for the next months till the new Board will be elected in Copenhagen. Board Member and Conference Chairman Jan Juul Christensen presented the Conference theme “Public affairs in a Changing Environment” as well as a preliminary program and PR-activities to promote the Conference. On October 1 a website will be launched for the Conference with information about the Conference and about the lovely City of Copenhagen. In the meantime you can find a small summary on our website at Next meeting. But this was not the only point on the Agenda. The Board agreed on a working plan to modernize and improve the Association. A group is going to work on the modernization of the web and another group is preparing a plan of action for the future till the Conference in May. If you are considering becoming a member of the EAPC this is for sure the moment to join us.

Not Flash, just Gordon!

Just few days before de Labour Party Annual Conference 2007 in Bournemouth from 23 to 27 September, the Labour Party has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi to handle its advertising at the next general election. Saatchi & Saatchi, whose anti-Labour campaign slogan “Labour isn't working” helped sweep Margaret Thatcher's Conservatives to power in 1979, has created the slogan "not flash, just Gordon" to change the image of Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The appointment comes amid speculation Prime Minister Gordon Brown is planning to call a snap election.

The Top 10 who are changing the world of Internet and politics

Politicsonline and the World E-Gov Forum have announced the list for nominations of the Top 10 Who Are Changing the World of Internet and Politics. For the seventh year in a row, PoliticsOnline subscribers and visitors from around the world are invited to help select the top 10 individuals, organizations and companies having the greatest impact on the way the Internet is changing politics.

The deadline for voting is September 25, 2007.

World e-Democracy Forum

From October 3 to4,2007, the "Palais des Sports" of the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux (Paris, France) will host the World e-Democracy Forum for the eight time, under this year's theme "Digital society in the era of citizen 2.0"
Founded in 2000 by André Santini, Mayor of Issy-les-Moulineaux and Member of the French Parliament, the World e-Democracy Forum is became an important international event on impact of ICT on the democratic life and the modernization of public services.
