Election Time

Our colleague and friend Mrs. Erika Casajoana has done a very interesting analysis on last Catalonian Elections. Catalonia plays always a big role in Spanish politics and there are a lot of lections to learn from these Elections.
Is it possible to found a new party three months prior to Election Day and have success? In Catalonia, Yes!
How much “pro-independence” is really ERC and how will it affect the Spanish Prime Minister, socialist, since they are in coalition with the socialist party in Catalonia?
Who has won the elections? The one with more votes but not able to build a Government or the one who formed the Government with an already failed coalition?
How will this election results and coalitions affect the upcoming local and regional elections? We will know more in 2 months. In the mean time, enjoy Casajoana’sanalysis!

50th anniversary of the Treaties of Rome

The EU has celebrated the 50th anniversary of its foundation. For that occasion the Heads of State and Governments of the European Union adopted the Berlin Declaration recalling the EU’s achievements. The document identifies the EU’s future goals as well as the challenges it faces: safeguarding the European way of life and assuming global responsibility.
As Angela Merkel, German Chancellor and current President of the European Council said, "failure to do this would be a historic missed opportunity. Our decisions will have long lasting effects, for better or for worse".
But how will the changing mood of the Europeans seen in last elections all over Europe affect these goals? And what about upcoming elections as the ones in France or Spain? Join the EAPC European Conference in Stockholm and take your conclusions!
See you in Stockholm in May!
