Election Time
Year after year a multitude of elections take place all over Europe. From
the particular parliamentary elections to presidential elections and the
regional and local elections.
Although every ballot finally is about the same fin, namely the new distribution
of the balances of power, every election is still different. Also in the
new Europe of the 25, the election campaigns in Scandinavia have a totally
different outlook than those in Cyprus, France or Spain. The EAPC, the
European Association of Political Consultants, made it its task to make
these varying forms, strategies and measures of election campaigns visible
and the result is impressive. Following the first edition published in
May 04, the second annual yearbook of political campaigning is even more
informative and completed.
“Election Time 04”, is the second in a series planned to be
edited year after year and in doing so becoming an exiting work of reference
for all interested in political campaigns – from editors to universities
and advertising agencies, campaign managers and parties.
“Our second Yearbook is a very extensive work with its 340 pages.
Still the presented campaigns certainly are only some examples of many.
Nevertheless we are able to offer a representative selection of different
campaigns by classifying all presentations in Parliamentary and Presidential
elections as well as referenda and regional and local elections. In addition
we are also presenting some samples of the campaigns for the European
Parliamentary elections,” as Sepp Hartinger, founder of the EAPC
and editor of the book, comments on the result.
