| History The EAPC (European Association of Political Consultants) was founded in 1996 in Vienna. The Association today counts 68 members in Angola, Argentina, Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the USA. Founded as a branch of the IAPC (International Association of Political Consultants), the Association has developed its own identity, but still goes on working side to side with the IAPC. The worldwide organization was founded by EAPC's honorary members Joe Napolitan (USA) and Michel Bongrand (France). Close contacts do also exist with the ALACOP, the Latin American group, and the AAPC (American Association of Political Consultants). Beside the exchange of experience and the improvement of contacts among each other, the EAPC set two main objectives which should be developed as projects: First, to improve our contacts to the European Community and the co-operation with the OSCE, the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, where the support of democracy has a high priority. Second, to intensify contacts to organizations supporting the development of democratic processes for instance to the IDEA or the IFES, two associations which work in this field with great success. |
